Autumn Sonata Season

You can tell by all stagings of Autumn Sonata. If you're quick, you can catch the ones in Stockholm and Perugia (Seoul is too late, I'm afraid). Also, the celebrated Argentinian production of last year will be on a Spanish tour, for example in Barcelona in November.

Fun fact: Bergman is sometimes considered a little gloomy. And since autumn is often regarded as the perfect season for this mood, one would think it to be featured a lot in Bergman. However, Autumn Sonata is the only of Bergman's works where the season occurs in the title. To be compared with another, which have several: Summer with Monika, Summer Interlude, Smiles of a Summer Night.

Swedish poet Erik Axel Karlfeldt was right:

Nu är den stolta vår utsprungen,
den vår de svaga kalla höst.

Now proud and glorious spring is here,
dubbed as autumn by the weak.
