Summary of the Ingmar Bergman centenary

The jubilee marking the centenary of the birth of Ingmar Bergman (1918–2007) – Swedish filmmaker, stage director, and writer of world renown – had been in planning for years. As the year began, we publicly announced our goal of Bergman 100 becoming the largest commemoration of a single filmmaker ever. The outcome exceeded our highest expectations. With thousands of events (screenings of his films, stage performances of his works, documentaries, concerts, book releases, conferences, exhibitions, etc) held in eighty-odd countries all over the planet, Bergman 100 was an absolutely remarkable success.
