Ingmar Bergman Interviews Himself Before the Opening of Summer with Monika
About the text
An ironic self-interview à la Bergman, likely intended to help promote the film:
Living as we do in a country whose climate only affords the opportunity for bathing in anything besides bathtubs or saunas but once or twice a year, it’s only natural that we should use the power of film to create the illusion of an idyllic clime, where shapely young women splash about in Arcadian leisure, without shivering or goose bumps.
In addition to being published in SF's brochure for the movie, this text was also printed in Filmnyheter 8, No. 2, 1953, pgs. 4-5.
