Bergman’s shooting script is adorned by Bergman’s home address at the time, Ymervägen 22, Stockholm.

Ingmar Bergman would stage A Dream Play three more times: 1970 at the Royal Dramatic Theatre with the title Dream Play, 1977 at the Rezidenstheater in Munich with the title Ein Traumspiel, and once again at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in 1986.

Despite the good reviews, Bergman was unhappy with the TV production, feeling that the drama was smothered by ’technical calamities’.

Ingrid Thulin played the drama’s lead role, the Indian god Indra’s daughter. Thulin was one of the director’s favorite actresses: 'Ingrid Thulin is one of the really great actresses of our time. Like a jealous co-worker once expressed: She is married to the camera.'
