Faithless
-
Faithless, was the second film Liv Ullmann directed after a script by Bergman, the first one was Private Confessions four years earlier.
-
Erland Josephson, Bergman’s most frequent used actor, shouldered in Faithless the role as Bergman’s alter ego.
-
The filming of Faithless took place on Fårö, so it was natural that memories from the filming of Scenes from a marriage came to both the film’s director Liv Ullmann and hos Josephson (Bergman). Between the takes, the old friends Ullmann and Josephson walked on the beach and played as if they were Johan and Marianne again, but thirty years later.

In the book Play and Rage Bergman told writer Henrik Sjögren how he discovered Lena Endre: "There was a TV series that was so stupid that you can’t describe it, Varuhuset (The Department store). I sat and watched it all the time because Lena was in it and I thought about that girl, it will be something when she’s done. She was constantly alive in every note."
